LOL. In all honesty, I figure the guy is probably brand new to riding and decided to jump on a ZX-14 straight off the bat, which is why the insurance is so high.

*EDIT* I looked at the guy's profile - says he or she is 28 with a KZ9. I don't understand how my little incident would affect insurance on a 30-year-old scoot, in all seriousness. Either way, kookooAchew is a troll, and I fully intend on ignoring the person as such.

Glad you are ok. I hope that broken arm heals soon so you can get back on the road.

Thank you, much appreciated

I've got 3 more weeks now. 3 more weeks! Doc restricted me from lifting anything heavier than a phone with my left arm and also restricted me from....yup....you guessed it....motorcycling!

I'm so frustrated right now. Well, on the positive side it will be 3 more weeks of no mileage on the bike, so while I'm waiting to sell it I won't have to worry about changing the mileage! So, all I get to do is start it up, warm it up, and then shut it down again.

Whee.

Sorry for my pessimism, I'm a little irritated about it right now.

That's it, his bike just 'went down' - cuz you know bikes just do that from time to time. Like the wind and tides, just something that happens.

'What I learned today' ?

Not much apparently. One reason MY insurance is so high.
That's nice coming from a guy who misspelled "Coo Coo kachoo"...

Glad to hear you and the missus are okay!
My boyfriend and I almost went down once before - scary feeling. We were at a stop sign, on a very steep hill that veered at a right angle near the stop sign - stupid setup if you ask me. He started to accelerate - I think a patch of sand was involved - and the bike began to lean. His foot went down, and as the rear end of the bike began to get closer to the ground, my foot went down as well, bending at the ankle - all my weight landing hard directly on the outer ankle bone. I hopped off the bike and he regained control before it touched the ground. He always wears his leather/armored jacket, gloves, kevlar jeans, riding boots, and helmet. I always wear my helmet as well, but didn't have gloves on, only sneakers, and a hoodie underneath the borrowed liner of his jacket. I've been looking at leather jackets since then... and a pair of kevlar jeans for myself too. We haven't gone down yet - thank the Lord - but if we do, I want my skin in tact.

Thanks for posting the pictures. They speak loads!

Glad to hear you're both ok seriously.

As for some jerk that says anything about riding skill level, ignore them, they get classified as a "squid"

I had my accident about 4 weeks ago now (posted a thread in the gear section) and the reason I got up and walked away was BECAUSE I wear good riding gear.

I get yelled at at times for "preaching " about gear, but its not to be a tool, its because I do relish my brother/sisterhood of fellow bikers and I want them to remain bikers for their entire lives, and not be put out of the loop because they had a small wreck and got hurt bad because of lack of gear.

Lets be honest, for all motorcyclists, it not about IF we're gonna go down, its WHEN.
And when it happens, I only hope theyre geared well so they can live to ride another day.

Again, Im really glad you're both ok, and I know you'll ride again!

P.S. One more week til I can ride (I'm playing it safe) WOOHOOOOO!

Awesome news! Glad to hear you'll be riding again here soon.

Thanks for the thoughts, they keep me encouraged and help me to feel like I'm still a rider even when I'm stuck without my bike

I'm almost there myself. Week after next I'll be back on the road

Glad your ok. I've got the same Fieldsheer pants as you showed in the photos.. looked like they held up pretty well. I am for people being able to make a choice in what they wear, that being said.. I feel the right choice is gear. Thanks for your testimony. Praise the Lord.

You're welcome, thanks for the thoughts, and I definitely agree with the choices we make. Freedom is an awesome thing, but I'll take my chances wearing the gear than not.

My Booster pants were ok, but after about 4 months of continual use, the stitching in the knee panels began to split.

Glad your ok, I had a crash on Saturday the 14th in a field tearing round with mates, caught a stone just as I changed down making me change down 2 gears causing the rear end to lock up and couldnt get the clutch in fast enough and went down on the left side still travelling at about 40mph handle bars wrenched all 16st 13lbs of me off the bike and on to my right wrist. I dislocated and broke my wrist which as you can imagine hurt. As for the bike: broken clutch lever and some slightly bent handle bars which my uncle made straighter.

It's case of: Bike= 6-8mins to fix, Me= 6-8weeks to fix.

I could have been much worse if I hadnt been wearing my gear which got ever so slightly wrecked by small stones and stuff like that in the mud.

Hi Donald,
I'm glad you and your wife didn't get seriously hurt (OK, a broken arm is serious enough, but coud be worse...).
Don't bother about that kookoo-whatsoever-dude. He disqualified himself with his offending way. I'm not very long in this forum yet, but it was clear at first glance that this is a place where people help each other and are concerned about each other, and not -never- a place where someone is being bashed for a mistake. As a new member one should first only read a while and "get the spirit" of the place, before (or better: rather than) acting like a dumbass. However, ignorance kills. Amen.

I hope you're back up and riding!

All the best, Rudi

Thanks Rudi!

Wife is healed up (and she wants to get out on the road again, I can tell by the way she acts around the bike), arm's all better, and the bike's been patched up. I've had the bike out on Sunday, but not since then since the gear doesn't fit right and I don't want to screw something up because I'm messing with my gear.

Kooky dude seemed to disappear. I think he caught wind of the thread elsewhere, got all spun up, created an account so he could chew me out (in THIRD PERSON! That's just to dog gone funny ), and left. I don't worry about him anymore, but thanks for the support.

As for the broken arm, it could have been MUCH worse. From what I understand, broken legs take A LOT longer to heal than do broken arms.

But, all in all, this is a great place. Probably why I frequent the BTK forum more often than any other. Just too many cool people to not keep coming back.

BTW, nice ears Rudi

Please estimate the speed of this accident. I also have textile gear, and I am concerned.

Thanks in advance.
