Here is the damage report and some photos of the area:

And here is where I went down...

Right in the middle of that triangle. You can see where I slid out.

Personally, I think that's a well marked and signed construction area. If you weren't expecting gravel then you weren't paying attention. You're OK, your bike only has cosmetic damage, consider it an inexpensive lesson.

I cannot express this enough that i fell at uber slow speeds. Ive gone through the intersection twice since then, knowing that rubble is there. Ive been ok. If I had known the first time through Id have been fine, but I still feel that it should be cleaned, or there should be an indication that they wont clean that crap up.

Maybe your roads are better maintained than ours, but honestly I expect that around *any* corner. We have two seasons here: winter and construction. It takes them months to clean the streets of all the sand and gravel spread over the winter, just in time to start tearing the streets up. Just a different mind set I guess and as I said, those pics you posted are just a regular occurrence so I *expect* there to be crud on the road.

buffalo cant be much better with the whole two seasons swing.
I used to live in Toronto and that was bad, but were right on Lake Erie. Snow here is awful. Though that crap in the middle of the road should been swept, the only reason i was so adamant about it, the custodian here in my building used to do that sort of work, and said that the cones should be all the way out to where that debris is or cleaned up.

Maybe Im making a big huff and wont get anything out of it. But like you said, the cosmetics is the worst that happened, though my hand is killin me. Wonder what that will cost me to get that touched up though.

Thanks! its been nice out too, so I dont mind too much, riding the bike it still goes fine, so I am happy. Really just wanna fix them scratches in the fairing. Muffler still works and is fine so not too worried about those scratches, buffing might even take that out.

Hence the term "That'll buff right out!"

Immobilize it now no matter how much "light duty" you do. I caught my bike while practicing emergency stops. I was off balance, it tipped left, took everything I had to catch it before goin to the point of no return. Sprained my wrist pretty bad but still didn't get a brace for it until later. Slight mistake seeing as a year later its still not healed. Funny thing, 2 weeks ago it was feeling really good, then playing hockey that week pushed it back a few steps - doh! Oh well...

How bad? Can you use the hand or is it far too painful to even think about?

That's the only intersection in the area that looks like that, and it was enough to wipe on. The construction goes on for miles in each direction.

Today on my morning ride to work I noticed a sound I havent heard before when I was leaning into a few turns. It wound like whenever I lean into a turn I am hearing a slight whining sound. I dont hear it when I am laying on the gas tank but I hear it when sittin up.
Anyone ever hear this before? Anything you think I should be checking out?

Yay for Man Candy in the forum!

Seriously good job getting that bike up though, I had some experience with that today... ugh.

And the gravel, I don't think that's anything that could have been avoided, so don't feel bad at all.

hahahahah!
quite the compliment.

I agree, but if there is anyone here in the buffalo area, the intersection is Southwestern and Abbot. Take that turn real slow.
