Default Some People Who Work at CycleGear are Idiots

I ordered and paid for a new front tire from CycleGear last Saturday. They did not have the tire in stock and had to order it. They called me yesterday to tell me it arrived. I dropped the front wheel off today at lunch time. I got a call about an hour later saying they had received the wrong tire (120/70v17 rather than 110/90v16). I called on my way out of work to confirm the size they were ordering and to find out how long until it arrived. The guy in the phone said "Oh, we do have the right one, I just picked up the wrong one from the tire pile earlier."

Doh! Idiot.

Well, wasn't trying to be a jerk. I wasn't rude to him at all, in fact when I called at the end of the day I was appreciative and told him I'd pick it up tomorrow afternoon, so there was no rush for the install and he could put other tire installs ahead of mine in the queue.

All I'm saying is maybe if you printed this thread out and handed it to him you might feel differently about posting it in the first place.

Or better yet the next time you do something not so smart (because we all do) you'll be thankful there isn't some fool out there posting a thread about you and your innopcenmt mistake.

Or....at least make the post funny. Embellish it if you have to....like he mistook some chocolate doughnuts for tires....something like that.

You are absolutely right Greenie. Thanks for making me feel like an arse.

I just had two instances of the wrong parts today, so I am a bit frustrated about the whole thing. It certainly isn't the fault of the guy at CycleGear, plus it appeared that he was alone in the shop when I was there. He was probably having a crappy morning, not unlike myself.

Hey, at least the guy was smart enough to look again and find the correct tire. Some people are so lazy/stupid that checking again is a thought that never would've crossed their mind.

I've had nothing but great experiences with Cycle Gear. Most of thier managers are people who, if not currently own/ride/race bikes, they have done so to some degree in their life. Perhaps you might take a moment or two to introduce yourself to the manager of the local store to find out if you want to continue doing business there. It's no different than the mechanic you give your bike to for work.

Their return policy can't be beat. I've taken stuff back that I haven't used for 2 months after purchasing it, and they refund it no questions asked.

Glad you realize we all have bad days and make mistakes. After all, "Cycle Gear" really is two words...

The cycle gear folk over at Mesa, AZ were pretty cool. Their stuff was a lot cheaper than the little "pro shop" most motorcycle dealerships have. And the folk were friendly enough, as soon as they decided I wasn't an idiot (ie: earlier someone idicated they bought a bike for $18k, then asked for the cheapest helmet they had).

During my first time there, it took 'em a while to notice me fumbling around with the helmets though...
