how i found my bikes range

on one of the legs during my vacation heading east out of red lodge, i sort of goofed. i found myself between gas stations and not sure if i would make it to the next town. with the low fuel light on and the guage showing empty and as the miles rolled by i kept repeating "30 miles to push, 25 miles to push.......". somewhere along the way i remembered i had an auto club membership and then relaxed. i could just call for gas if i didn't make it.

thankfully i made it to a gas station. i did 182.1 miles total. the street bob has a 4.7 gal tank and i filled it with 4.41 gal. a little close, but it ended well.

Cool deal Art that comes out to 41.2 MPG.
I love it, the local HD dealership is running adds every hour for new buyers. They are saying their models get over 50MPG.
41 is nothing to scoff at however.

if i keep the speed at or near 65 mph i get 54 mpg., but most of my time is spent at 70-80 mpg.
