Kawasaki kickstand spring installation

Can anyone here verify if this is the original kickstand? This is a 98 Kawasaki Vulcan vn800a I ordered a spring (never got to see the original that came off) part number is 921441098 this spring seems far too long but I'm also unsure of how its mounted I never got to see it originally. I'm not a mechanic by any means any insight is appreciated.

I can see the thumbnail pics, but clicking them doesn't work.
Try comparing your side stand to kickstands on eebbaayy.

I've reported this to Admin already, you're not the only one. I get the following:

put copper pennies between each ring, then when the spring has expanded enough hook it on, move the kickstand down and all the pennies will fall out

check the stand pivot for excessive looseness.
