82 Kawasaki kz750csr

Hi all I was wondering if anyone know if replacing the gasket on the stator cover if I have to use silicone or do I just put it on dry

Just put it on dry but make sure you get all of the old gasket off first.

As it has no need to be oil tight, itís primary roles are to act as a dust seal and cushion between the two metal surfaces.

It is dry in there, no oil. There is nothing to leak. Only the bikes with starter clutch behind stator show some oil residues. The 750/550 have the starter clutch behind the crank.

Some models have some oil behind the generator cover & there is a hole at the bottom for the oil to drain back down into the engine >> the models I've checked don't have an oil seal on the crankshaft, hence the oil there. I didn't see a crankshaft oil seal listed in the diagrams for the 82 750-CSR, so it may have oil behind the engine cover.
