I have had a tick in my bayou for at least a year it runs good but the tick concerns me ive checked the valves im pretty sure i adjusted them correctly the oil is fresh i cant even determine if its coming from the top or bottom end Any suggestions?????????? thanks

Check your timing chain tension. If it was set by rolling the engine over the wrong direction to take out the slack, it will slap the guide on the tension screw side of the case loud enough that you will think a piston is slapping.

It is an easy adjustment, but you want to follow the instructions in the service manual to a T.

I just got finished with a 400 that had a tick to it. Thought it was the loose timing chain, turned out to be a wore rocker arm on the exhaust side. Get a stethoscope from any parts store and listen to the motor at different places. You will probably hear it through the entire motor but find the loudest pace you can.
