04 MeanStreak Seat-Sissybar??

1159 Views 16 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  meangreen
I'll first say hello to the forum. I just bought an 04 Green Mean Streak. I really like the bike, im a Sportbike guy that is now coming to grasps with wanting a more relaxed comfortable, the mean streak.

Mine is dressed with the Stock seat and a small short sissy bar. I am interested in a seat that is more comfortable for a long highway ride for me and the misses. I was looking at the Mustang Sport touring seat. Any reviews on that seat, or any others???

Also, i want to get a lot taller sissy bar for better passenger seat comfort, and to better use a T-Bag down the road. I had a Vmax with a taller sissy bar and loved it. All i can find in dennis kirk and chaparral are the short ones. Any ideas....

I pictured my new means streak, and a picture of my old max's sissy bar to give an idea of what im referring to...

Any feedback would be appreciated. Im sure as i get more familiar i'll be a postaholic. I really love this new bike.

Mapam-Restyling Standard Sissy bar on the Kawasaki Fire & Steel Dual Saddle. Both are comfortable enough for my wife, and a T-Bag hangs just fine on it with the addition of the luggage rack.

hey thanks sleekstreak. Anyone know if the 02-03 1500cc bikes and the 04-up 1600cc bikes seats/sissybars are compatable?
call it a bit compulsive, but i haven't even received any input regarding an aftermarket seat but i went ahead and bought a new one. I went ahead and purchased the 3 piece sport touring seat by mustang. It was on sale until the end of tuesday through the website referenced by Sleekstreak. Hope i enjoy it, i'll comment on her when i get er on and going.
Parts for 1500/1600 are MS are almost always compatable unless it specifically says otherwise. Throw the Suzuki Marauder in there, as well, as they are the same bike. I cannot think of anything I've ever seen that wasn't. They body of the bike hasn't changed since it's introduction.

You can click on fitment details:

This accessory should fit:
- Kawasaki 1500 Mean Streak
- Kawasaki 1600 Mean Streak
- Suzuki Marauder 1600
- Suzuki Boulevard M95
I got this one through my dealer. It is made by Kawasaki for the MS. Replaces the strut covers and uses 10mm bolts instead of 6mm.

I have a Mustang seat on my V2K, and would never have anything else. I swear by my Mustang seat, it is well worth every penny.

Oh yeh, welcome to the forum.
Im preferably looking for the tallest Sissy bar possible. The woman in charge says the little ones don't support her back near as well. Im looking at getting it setup for a trip to daytona for bike week (round 1600-1700 miles one way) from here so i need the most support i can get my hands on...
I got the Corbin Dual Tour seat with the Corbin backrests for she and I. I love it. Be ready to drop a couple of bucks but in my opinion the seat is worth it. I hear mustang is a good seat also but never been on one myself. Congrats on the meanie. They are an awesome machine!

Yup

I have the Corbin and the Mustang, and while the Corbin is hands down sexier, the Mustang is much more comfortable. I'm still trying to figure out the 3rd piece....

Be careful with your backrest choice. Some bolt to the 6mm holes and like Meanie Man said, some require the F/S strut covers to use the 8mm (or 10mm?) bolts that go thru the fender for added strength. ESPECIALLY if hanging a Tbag. I've got the Corbin Mini backrest that uses the 6mm bolts. It's really only a butt-bump to keep ladies from sliding off. Wouldn't put any real weight on it.
Check out CWI for backrests, 12 or 15 inches tall and an 9 or 12 inch wide pad.
hey wayne1001, i see you have a meanie as well, do you run that Sissybar you spoke of, the CWI brand one. I found it and looked at some pictures of it and it appears to be the closest to what i'm wanting.

If you have it on yours, you don't happen to have a pic of it do ya??

hey there sleekstreak, you don't happen to have a side picture of your bike were i could see what the sissybar looks like(height, angle)
get the mustang seat and look into ebay for the sissy bar i bought one on ebay for @150.00it is a nice sized sissybar
\
yeah the mustang seat is the way to go for 2 up comfort I was not too thrilled with what it did to the lines of the bike but it looks ok
The mustang seat solo actually looks great on a meanie. The mustang pillion does mess up the lines of the bike a bit, but the addition of a sissy bar with a luggage rack actually softens the effect and it looks OK. On my old mean streak, I had a mustang and a sissy bar from scootworks. You choose the mount that fits your bike, then choose the height that you want. YOu can get a pretty decent height bar for the meanie from them.
