Hello

I bought a 1980 750 LTD about two months ago. The bike is running great except, on my last ride, it started leaking gas from the bottom of two of the carbs. The gas is draining through the nipples on the bottom of the carbs. I have been told that I may have a stuck float in both carbs but it seems odd that it would happen in two carbs at the same time. Is there a trick to getting access to the carbs on this bike? Could it be two stuck floats? One of the cars has a hose connecting the drain nipple to the air intake box. Should all four carbs have hoses like this?

Any help or advice anyone can give would be great.

Thanks
Chuck

from the sounds of it you are talking about your float bowl drains. they are not supposed to leak. they are either a 10mm bolt end or a #3 phillips end. try tightening them up first. if they dont stop leaking then pull them out and clean the tip with steel wool. put a paint can lid under the small nipple to catch the fuel. might even spray some carb cleaner up in the hole before putting the plug back in. you can put rubber lines on the drains if you want and run them down under the bike but its not necessary.
good luck

There doesn't seem to be anyway to tighten up the drain nipples. The bike also seems to be running rich. Can anyone recommend a good site about carbs? I would like to remove them, clean them and adjust them.

Thanks
