Just bought one real cheap...Only 6000 miles and appears to be in good condition.Only problem is has been sitting for about a year.
bowls drain ok but gas really deteriorated.
Figured i would clean it out and cycle in the new gas.
Another problem is the bike is in neutral and the shift lever has movement but i cat get it into any gears.Thanks for any help.I hope i did'nt get burned. :wink:

also picked one up recently, same year, 1000j csr, and similar low miles, somewhere in here or another forum I read the clutch plates stick from sitting long time but can be worked loose without going into the motor.

The carbs will probably need a major cleaning, off the bike. Doesn't the engine have to be running to be able to shift, on these bikes???????

Yep, to go into second, the engine needs to be running, but possibly by getting the rear wheel spinning on the center stand(you do have one?) might do the same thing.
