... and try Rick's Electrics, they do stators and starters, but maybe they can rebuild a pulser coil, similar technology?

Consider fixing the one you have; or take the old unit to a salvage yard and find the closest setup that you can modify to suit.

Torque spec, sorry don't know precise number; I usually get those pretty tight by holding the "washer, spark advancer" with a wrench and tightening the bolt against it.

You're welcome! Interestingly, there may be plenty of that item available, but they're just not identified as the pulser coil for a KZ440. The manufacturers buy all or most of their electrical components from one or two companies in Japan; odds are that company also made pulsers for Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki. That's why breakers and salvage yards are so important when working on "older" models; it's the only place I know where you can do a direct comparison. Sometimes we get lucky and search the original manufacturers number, so "Shin-Den #34512" [this is a made-up number] locates the part, not identified as fitting your bike, but fit something else. Nonetheless, it's the same part! Finding parts is a fun challenge these days, but usually you can find something close enough to modify to suit. Cheers!
