I just bought a 1985 Kawasaki Bayou 185 and I am having the following problems.
1. It bogs down at top end.
2. It idles high at times, but not always.

The guy I got it from said he put on new rings, head gasket, and intake valve.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! I am new to the Forum.

I would start by removing, disassembling, and cleaning the carburetor. A very good parts diagram is found on Kawasaki.com under the Owner Info tab.

My guess is the random high idle is junk in the pilot fuel circuit, or even possibly a sticking enrichment valve (choke).

Bogging with a carburetor that was originally properly jetted is almost always partially plugged main jet or the small holes in the sides of the main jet tube have become clogged.
