My Vulcan has issues starting, which I have narrowed down to a generator issue, since a new battery quickly loses charge (when attaching junper cables to new battery, she starts rather promptly). How do I isolate a problem with the stator or regulator? What problem should I be looking for? Coil? Diodes? I am a serious novice when it comes to electrical systems.

All you need is a Good ohms meter.
