Can someone tell me what the different spring positions (A, B, C and 1 or 2) are for. The manual says put spring in c and 1. Mine was in b and 2 position and still is. Dealer mechanic said they represented different shift points, but couldn't tell me what they were. My machine (8485 hours) has tons of power on take off and runs 20 mph with 22 inch tires. Just wondering.

When there is doubt, follow the Manual.

Found from a previous post. The manual for this machine is also available on-line from ManualsLib:-

They are for altitude adjustments. Most of them came in one of the end holes, moving it to the opposite end helps keep the RPM up longer which helps a little bit if'n your gonna use it in the hills (above 10,000') when the air gets thin and the engine won't make much power. I've tried all of the holes and felt very little difference, I mean VERY little (barely noticeable).
