alright dude everyone should know this but a great way to make a
4-stroke run faster is to use racing gas. Its very expensive [around $11.00 a gallon] but youll fly!
sell em and get a 2 stroke lol i had a crf230 but i got rid of it for my kx 125 i wanted to do stuff to make the 230faster i was gonna go with a pipe and smaller sprockets if that helps
I agree there are many things that can be done to improve a bikes power/ speed, but if cost is a consideration then you may want to proceed in this order:
1. Replace the spark plug (gapped) $5
2. Race gas ( be careful about overheating with higher octane) $4-10/ gal
3. Change sprockets (smaller size less teeth on back) $20-60
4. Aftermarket pipe $50 - 150
