3010 jumping out of gear

My 3010 E4 4x4 Mule jumps out of both low and high gear. It looks like all the adjustment is done on the cable. I need to know if I could move the shifting lever on the top of the transmission, or if I should either try to repair the transmission shifting gears inside or look for a new complete transmission. I don't want to do any try this ,then try something, and try something else deals and The mule has 170 hours on it.
What would a replacement rransmission cost? is there a core charge for a replacement, or could I send in the transmission for a rebuild?
Thanks

Hello,

Here is what the book lists as the most common problems for jumping out of gear,
-Shifter groove worn
-Gear dogs worn
-Shift arm positioning bolt spring weak or broken
-Shift block worn
-Transmission shaft, and/or gear splines worn
-Shift cable maladjusted
Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

A complete transmission for your Mule is a part #13101-0005, and they retail for $2499.39. Your cost is $2124.48 + postage. Let me know, thanks.

Thanks Jake I will check the linkage first then the shift arm positioning arn spring. I assume that is the one with the ball that fits into a position detent? I have a new repair manual and will check out each of your suggestions. I think that it isn't going into high and low as far as it should. It starts grinding (high idle) just before the shifter gets into position for high and low and it seems to go into reverse fairly quick from neutral.
