i just got a kx-80 that was bored over to a 125
i have good spark
have gas
i took out the reeds the piston comes down to the piston bearings but thats all

the bike backfires every once and a while

does any one have some advice

80's can normally only be bored out to a 105cc's. If you have spark is the plug getting fuel??? Have you done a compression test? Will the bike push start? If it's backfiring it could be an air leak or jetting.

Clean the carb out blowing out all passages, new plug, clean air filter.

like you said i dont think that i am getting good compression do you know what kind of compression i should run
if i put it in gear and push it will smoke out of the pipe and every once and a while it will back fire

It should have 145+ psi on the test. Push the bike in neutral and with some speed shift it into 2nd and hit the gas and it should fire up.

I'll guess the plug. I have seen quite afew get spark when dry starting it but not hot enough when compressed on. For $2 at any auto parts store, try a NGK br8es. Make sure the spark is a strong blue with a nice snap when it fires.
