73-75 Z1s had pork chop cranks and big carbs. 76 900s called KZ900s had full circle crank counterweights and 26mm carbs (Exc Z-1Rs) Earlier ones would rev faster at the cost of additional vibration. Before the era of rampant specialization, one bike would do everything. Touring riders demanded greater smoothness. Later Zs were a mere shadow of the 73.
