I have an '81 KZ750-E2 (by Vetter) Touring bike.

Just bought it. Noticed during my first night ride that the tachometer backlight doesn't work. Speedo is OK. Green backlight.

Is there a bulb I can replace? Is it LEDs?

Any help with diagrams and diagnosis will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Go to the site listed below to see a diagram of your guages.

If you have not discovered this site already you will find it a real life saver for how things are put together and part numbers.

It looks like you have two back light bulbs. Part number 92069-018 12V 3.4w and part number 92069A-1007 12V 3w. You may discover that you have a loose connection that is not letting your lights work properly. If you find that in fact you have a defective bulb you should be able to get a replacement at any auto parts store for about a third of what it would cost at a Kawasaki dealer. It is a good idea to clean the connectors real well and then apply some dielectric grease when you reconnect the connectors.
