is the vacuum hose from the petcock to the carbs really necissary for engine operation? I'm thinking about going to a differant tank than use a universal petcock than cap the vacuum ports on the carbs, that should work shouldn't it? Does anyone know where I can get new bowl drain screws? or fuel bowls with screws as far as that goes? thanks.

if you go to a universal one plug the vacuum port. it's only there to open the petcock

yep...it's not necessary to use a vacuum petcock, but you have to make sure that you shut it off any time you shut off the engine or it will fill the float, possibly the cylinders, and even into the crankcase ruining your oil. Not to mention if you try to start the bike with a cylinder full of gas you could bend something from the pressure.

make sure to plug the vacuum line to the carb also.

Yeah I've been wandering what the vacuum line was for. Thanks, I just figured the it would be the carb floats that controled fuel from the tank. Thanks. David.
