I have an 83 KZ440 that appears to be running rather rich - black soot on the plugs, crummy idling when hot, etc. There could be other things I need to look into also, but I'm curious as to the nature and existence of the plastic plugs covering the slow jet (idle jet?). One was intact while the other seems to have slipped out slightly- the o-ring seems 'smooshed'. Would disposing of these two plastic plugs be detrimental, or are they critical to the correct operation?
Ran really nice for an hour or so, then got gradually harder to keep lit up at stops, then crapped out entirely for about 30 minutes. Ran marginally afterwards.
