I'm looking at this bike and it has a rattle in the top end of the engine at idle. It seems to go away as RPMs increase. No smoke from the tailpipes. The bike has 14K miles and is very clean and original. The owner claims it has been doing this since he bought it 3 years ago. Should I be concerned?

Possibly cam chain rattle, unless it has an automatic chain tensioner that can be adjusted. Take it by a shop and ask 'em what they think it is. If it is cam chain they'll tell ya and maybe show you how to adjust it pretty cheap I would think.
