hi i have just brought a 1985 gpz 250 [in australia -possibly also called a 305?]. the bike has done 90,000km and is in very good shape. it starts 1st time idles well and runs well until it gets around 6-7ooo rpm then it farts and wont rev any higher. was told it was a carby problem but have since been told it more likely the valves. anybody with ideas would be great:|

We got that bike with a 305 cc motor.

Start by adjusting the valves to the loose side of the tolerance so, if it's .002-.006 shoot for .006. Now I haven't seen one of those in 20 years, so find the correct manual and use that.

After that, compression and leakdown checks and standard troubleshooting apply.

took bike in for an inspection, mechanic pulled the top off and the bloody cam is worn so much it wont open the valves. am now looking for a cam and rocker anybody in the know please let me know thanks. also need new set of indicators or ideas on making them poke out more app they too close
