Well...I have a '94 ZX7 and I dig my bike. After 2 years of riding it, there is hardly ever a ride when I don't say "Man, I love this thing!"
I have just spent about $1600 to upgrade the brake system. BrakeTech SS Axis wave rotors, Braking rear wave rotor, 6-pot Tokico calipers, Ferodo pads, HEL braided SS lines, radial front M/C, all waiting patiently to be installed. Throw in the Gilles Tooling rearsets, that pushes it up towards the 2k mark.
So is it worth it? To the average Joe, probably not. Why do I do it? Because I can, because I like to wrench. I want my bike to be my bike. Because uniqueness is next to greatness. When the motor goes, I'll rebuild it. We have the technology...
I believe the '93-'95 ZX series are rapidly becoming collector bikes. They have always been popular, and will remain so. If you love your bike, do what you want to it, and Duke Nuke the rest.
