I'm looking at buying a '96 800 classic for my wife it would be her first bike I'm familiar with the 1500 but not the 800 are there any problems or issues with the 800 that I should consider any pog problems? The bike is in mint condition with 12,000kms or 8000miles on it and the guy is asking $4900.00cdn or @$3700.00us, not much for extras just a windshield and bags. Do you guys think this would be a good deal or should I be able to find a better deal :?:

According to the kawasaki home site, a brand new 800 classic costs $6500. According to Kelly Blue Book, a used 96 800 classic has a retail value of $3235 and trade in value of $2200. All these values are in US dollars....

I'm not suggesting any action on your part, just giving the values of new vs used, according to sources.

the others will give their opinion, I'm sure.

I should add, that with the KBB estimate, there is a separate page that says with a '96 model with an engine displacement over 750cc, your mileage should be at or around 37000 miles. Sounds like the little gem you are looking at should be consisered VERY low mileage.

this link is the table that I used for mileage.

For reference, I got my 01 800B (classic) with 1364 miles on it for $3750 with a windshield. Of course, it had some minor damage from being dropped once. Mechanically it is rock solid. One year and 3000 miles later I still feel it was a screamin deal.
