Motorcyle Cruiser magazine has a great write-up on the Victory Hammer this month, and also talks about the NSK, that's some first bike. I'm sure there's a few guys here wondering if his wife needs a part time companion she can spread some of the joy with!! When I was 7 and had my first bike it was a little gearless 5hp home made mini bike that took some serious beatings...too bad my Dad didn't have the same leap of faith, my life would have so much different!

And I was looking forward to getting a new pair of winter gloves.

That's a good looking king pen JR. What's your opinion of it? I test rode a vegas an king pen back in oct. There nice bike's thats for sure. When you get in the $15,000 to $20,000 price range you end up with a few different brands an style's to choose from, including the V2K. Probably the only thing about the victories I'm still getting used to are the taller looking jugs, didn't like the look a couple of yr's ago but there starting to grow on me now. I liked them when I test rode them, plus playing around on the web site adding accessories an changing colors can be fun , for something to do .

Very responsive bike. Very quick and powerful. At the moment it feels like it's having a hard time starting...or at least a harder time than my Drifter, which starts super easy. We'll keep an eye on this.

It's got a great sound, but I read earlier in this thread where someone wrote that the engine balancer caused an audible whine. If that's the whine I'm hearing, and it probablly is, then I agree with that assessment. It's not annoying and certainly doesn't take away from the overall sound of the bike.

The breaks are great, both back and front. Stopping quickly was easy. Each gear clunks real hard when being shifted into...both up and down, and neutral is a bit hard to find. No trouble getting into or out of gears, but it does shift differently than my bike.

The saddle is very comfortable and when the give the bike an open throttle it sets you right down in it and you feel like you're riding a chopper. I can stretch my legs better on this bike than I can on my drifter (I stand 6' tall with a 32 inseam), which would have me wondering if I'd ever have to put highway pegs on the Victory or not. Overall, a very nice bike.

The Ness gear is sweet and the craftsmanship is top shelf. When I found out it was only $20K (in my mind I was thinking $25K), I felt like my friend got a very good bike, and in some instances more features and add-ons than some other bikes at higher prices.

Cheers,
John

Is that purple metal-flake paint ? I love that color, next to camo. I did get a Jeep Rubicon for Christmas. I pushed it all around the livingroom this morning  . Mack

unfortunatly it has hard straight suspension , it does have 2in rubber wheels that take some of the bounce . I haven't hit any furniture . I am trying to keep it pristine to add to the toy collection.

Some of this is undoubtedly true. He would be a very casual rider. Weekends. Here and there. Around the block. Doubtful he'd ever be game for a long, serious, bike-loaded-down-with-gear type rides. I love the thrill of the right gear for the right situation. I'm with ya there. I ride with the ease of a tango. Unfortunately, my friend doesn't. At least at this point. He's had some experience with trikes and ATVs, and has actually done quite well. My hope is that once he actually gets riding, and realizes he is missing a part of the overall experience, he'll work toward learning how to ride a standard transmission. Appreciate your input. It's all good. I'm just glad he wants to ride. Cheers, John

I rode a Honda NC750X DCT (automatic) and quite liked it. Although it is correctly called Dual Clutch, most just call it an automatic. But I enjoy the precise control you get with a manual transmission.

Plus it adds at least $1,000 to the price for the DCT option.

I never saw the Honda Silverwing trike kits. (If Honda had one, I never heard of it). I'd like to find a KZ1300 engine and run a shaft to a rear end, slap on a Weber DCOE 45 mm side draft carb, and make a trike with a very small pickup back on it. Those engines are hard to find, but built like tanks. I think trikes can be a blast, but I don't want something that looks like the modern ones. I want something like the pic below, but for God's sake, not that type of engine, everything else about it is fine, I'd use a different front end, actually, it's the concept I like. I would have a pad on the little flatbed to act as a passenger seat. Blank most of the bike, think of the concept, a bench seat, Kawasaki engine shaft drive, and dual discs up front. :)
