If the battery is good, I would tap it out. Easyout, drill, something, shouldn't be that hard to get it out.

Careful drilling.

What's really funny though... Easy-Out is definitely NOT the description of removing the battery from a 1600.

The running joke is that the easiest way to get that battery out is to pick the bike up, turn it upside down, and shake it.

I had to slip a tie-wrap through each battery terminal in order lift out the oem battery. Dittowise with the new battery so I could lower it in.
