2004 bayou 250. I needed an ATV and didn't want to spend to much cash. I bought it for right around 3000 brand new. They are still going for right around this much. I just needed something to help me lug bags of corn around to fill deer feeders and to get to and from my treestand with. My hunting partner buy Grizzly's (yamaha, right) and he had a 440 (maybe) and last year bought a 660. He kind of poked fun at me at first but even he is amazed at what all this atv can do. Up to this point I've never encountered anything I can't handle with it. But, I'm kinda wanting to buy a small atv disc so I think I'm gonna have to upgrade. Nothing bad about the ATV, I LOVE IT!!!

Hey All, I'm brand new to the forum and just inherited two not one but two 2000 Kawasaki Bayou 220's...Does anyone know where I can get new red plastic for one and a new headlight assembly and rack for the other? just want to make them new again? They are both great machines? Please any help would be awesome> Do they make a plastic body in Camo?

Well I guess I can ask another question. How do all of you handle the changing of tire situations. Do you do it yourself or take it somewhere? I'm thinking about opening a ATV and lawn equipment shop doing tire repair and replacement?
I personally would prefer to do it myself, but being I haven't changed an ATV tire yet, (I've done several other kinds of tires) if it isn't too much trouble. Some tires though, like the little 8" Go-kart tires, are a pain the butt to change so I'd rather pay someone else to as long as they aren't ridiculous price-wise.

#1 the silicone has to go! Silicone does not handle being exposed to gasoline at all. It turns into goo and falls off inside the float bowl and then gets sucked up inside the main jet and clogs it. You'll have nothing but headaches until you buy a Moose, or similar carb rebuild kit. You can get them for about $25 and it will save you a TON of headache.
#2 That looks to be in REALLY good shape for a 1988 KLF200. They are beasts of machines aren't they? Keep the oil changed and the carb adjusted correctly and you won't have many headaches out of it. They are silly simple to maintain and last forever.

i just bought a bayou 220 not foresure on the year but i bought it for 200 dollars had some trouble getting it started but finall got it running we rode it and figured out his has no power at all?? we also saw that there was oil shooting out of the blow by hose or thats what we think it is. it is coming from right above the motor. is there any way to fix these problems????

If it runs hot it could be running lean, set the pilot jet air screw and throttle needle correctly and see if that fixes the problem. Check the spark plug, if it is excessively white colored it is more than likely this problem.
I am not 100% sure what you mean by getting up to really high RPMs. I know that this engine does rev pretty high normally. If it has a high idle the choke plunger could be sticking or it the idle screw is set too high. I'm not all that familiar with the governing system on these machines, if there even is one. If there is it would cause it to rev higher than it should.

Going to pick up my first atv tomorrow, a Bayou 220. It's gonna need some lovin' before it's trail ready. New seat, new timing chain, new battery, and (hopefully) a rebuild of the starter. I ordered the Hayne's guide for it, after the recommendation of many people on this board.
We already own a Honda XR70 and a Yamaha TTR125. I've gotten tired of the kids riding without me, or I have to have one of them sit out so I can play too.
The one thing that I'm not looking forward to is them roosting me again. I'm tired of them thinking it's funny to spray dad with dirt. Darn kids, no respect for their elders.

I'll tell you that these machines are great! They are bulletproof when maintained correctly and are tons of fun! They work hard and play harder.
If you are tired of getting beat now, with this machine you will be able to out-mud 4WD drive machines. I don't know why, but these things are phenomenal in mud.
There are couple problems though, as with any ATV. Since it has a locked rear end, it will scuff the lawn when you turn sharp. I've also heard that the shifter pedals will break off right at the case, but this isn't too big of an issue.
