Stay Away !!!!
Dear motor bikers,
I am A kawasaki rider since quite a while and i had an experience with this so called “ service” that made me re-considering the overall level of professionalism and honesty on the market or at least at this geographical coordinates))
After a main 30 amper fuse failure i did called this garage for help in finding the touching problem and they did collect me bike from Warrington for so-called inspection: and ;
1 whole week of waiting they come with two “great offers”
- “ we find your wrong part - harnes and it costs you 575£ .. but there is the thing we dont have a clue when it will be available.. anytime next year”
When refused then come back with even better offer- “ we spend 4 hours by 100£ on your bike but we give no warranty if it solves the issue, and if not we dont refund you” 400£ for nothing??????
All this is a joke- they been told to take their proffessional hands off me bike..
THEY DID CHARGE ME 120£ FOR ALL THIS COMEDY …
And WHEN I WENT TO A PROPER GARAGE THE TRUTH BECAME EVIDENT - ALL THE WRONG THING WITH THE KAWASAKI WAS ITS REGULATOR - AND THE OTHERS GARAGE MECHANIC FINDS IT FOR 10 minutes IN A COST OF 40£ LABORING.
I FEEL ME DUTY TO DECREASE THE NUMBER OF THE SUFFERERS BY SUCH A JOKE AND THIS IS THE MAIN REASON I DO GIVE THIS FEEDBACK.
Good luck to all

I do a lot of similar stuff for a living, have been for 40+ yrs. Nowadays there's really no choice. The diagnostic tools simply aren't there. Nor is the indepth hands on trade school knowledge.

Well in my humble opinion, the first and most important diagnostic tool is a mechanically minded brain.

The second most important tool is a factory service manual and other than ordinary hand tools, we need a good multimeter, compression gage and a leakdown tester.

A lot can be accomplished with the above tools, particularly if working on vintage bikes and cars.

But I agree that the newer a vehicle is, the harder it is to diagnose and repair which is why the movement called "The Right to Repair" has gotten legs.

My 2013 bike now has 2 computers. And it's not even a BMW! The 2016 models and on have OBDII connectors but owners have no option to go to dealerships since the software is proprietary. I can do some stuff with my 2013 Ford F150 software but again Ford is very tight lipped about what does what. After 10 yrs we have some knowledge but 2019 models and on it's extremely difficult.

But guys like me aren't coming from the schools to continue the trades. We boomers really screwed up by thinking we're bettering our kids by sending them to college. Our kids did the same with theirs. No one's left to do it.

It is unfortunate that in Canada and the US, we seem to push everyone into university and as a result we have a severe shortage of skilled tradespersons, technicians and technologists.

I was the only one in my family who did not go to university, instead opting for a trades path, first as a machinist, then industrial mechanic and on to mechanical technology. Looking back, I would definitely do it all over again. I have had a very rewarding career and the money was always excellent.

I would highly recommend to any young adults to consider a trades or technology education. Rather than graduating in 4 years with significant student debt, you can be out earning decent money in 1 to 2 years.

I totally agree with all of the above but another most important factor, is attitude.
The mechanic, technician or engineer has to 'want' to repair/fix the problem. If their mindset from the start is 'I will sort out the problem' it will get sorted. For me, this attitude is relevant for all aspects of engineering repairs.
