Which do you prefer for a cruiser that is at least 1500cc and why? What are the pros and cons you have experienced?

Belt, cleaner, fewer moving parts, easy to adjust ratios ...And for some reason, I have 2 chain drive motorcycles and 1 shaft drive. None over 1500cc (which is an engine size best left in a car, not a motorcycle.)

All 3 of my bikes are shaft and I am glad they are with the minimal maintenance required for that design. There may be more driveline lash with shafts but I can live with that.

For 1500+ cruisers, absolutely a shaft drive. Cleaner, easy maintenance, no alignment or tensioning issues. The loss of power transmission (it is the least efficient of the 3) is negligible for cruisers. We generally don't expect the to perform like their sportier cousins.
