Just bought a used 2000 ex500. The engine sounded noisy. tried to adjust cam chain according to clymer's but their instructions don't seem to apply to my tensioner. It says to turn screwdriver on rod clockwise - problem is the rod on mine has no slot for screwdriver. I think my tensioner is different than the one in the book. I replaced the tensioner assembly and the sound went away but ervery once in a while at idle I hear a low rumbling sound. Does not sound normal. What I need is the correct instructions to adjust the cam chain tensioner.

Thanks

Cam Chain Tensioner

Try posting it in "The Mechanics Corner"... you should get faster results there. The Genuine Service Manual for your bike is available through Beartooth Kawasaki 1-800-556-3098, and you get a Fourm discount on it as well...
