I am new to motorcycles. I just passed the MSF course and bought an '01 Ninja 500R. I love it so far. It is a blast. Question is though, how the heck do you get the thing on the center stand? I have not had any luck getting it on there, and I am sure there is some trick to it. Thanks.

Basically you want to get the stand touching the ground then use your weight to push the stand down while you pull back on the handlebars. It might take you several tries to get it and you may want somebody standing close by to make sure you don't drop it.

Thanks guys. I got it now. What a noob I am. I got on the highway today, I thought I was gonna die, lol. Well not funny really, it was fine I guess. It was just that the doofus in front of me on the onramp pulled the move where he stops instead of merges, and all I heard was screeching tires behind me. That sucked, and so did the wind blasts out there. A little unnerving for a noob like me. I have logged about 120 miles since I picked the bike up wed. I worked up to the highway thing, but was a little freaked out. I will be ok I am sure. When I was out there doing 60 some guy on a Harley (all there is in Florida is Harleys) flew by me at like 75 or something, so he knew what he was doing I guess. I hope to participate in this forum a lot going foward. You all seem real cool in here. Thanks again.
