I have a 1987 KZ1000P-6 that has been setting for about 5 months. The clutch cable was replaced in may of 2002 and has about 2000 miles on it. Now there seems to be no adjustment, the lever has play over a third of it's travel and then gets extremly hard to move. The adjustment cam only has a quarter turn of movement in either direction. The clutch stays engaged all the time. Any thoughts?

If the bike has been sitting a long time with no oil in it; the clutch will not work properly. If you have tried all adjustments I would remove the clutch and soak the plates in oil for a couple of days, then reassemble. Hope this helps.

clutch release

I have a KZ1000P14.
I would suggest that you remove the drive sprocket cover. Then remove and clean the clutch release mechanism. Chain lubricant tends to build up on the release and really gums it up.
