I just replaced my clutch plates and when attempting to torque the clutch hub nut, the inner hub spins and will not allow me to tighten the nut. Can someone tell me what I have done wrong and what I need to do to fix this.
adam is right, there is a SPECIALTY TOOL for tightening this nut BUT since i know you wont have one and probably wont be able to get on heres what i would do
1. just hit it with an IMPACT wrench
maybe go to a shop and ask to BORROW one by putting down a couple HUNDRED dollars to insure you get it back to them un-broken I WOULD NOT stick a bar/wrench thru the tounges on the hub/basket for the simple fact you may break them off.
do not use an impact wrench if you are not familiar with the feel of one, you could easily twist, or strip or break something very easily. Get something to wrap around the basket and hold it (ie the proper special tool) and torque the nut to the correct spec..
