I'm also very interested in those same pipes for my '04 Mean Streak. Please let me know how they sound, and how much louder the volume level is as compared to stock. Thanks!

I hope so. Hate to think I bought us 2 full face helmets for nothing
Honest, I hope they are loud but not earthshaking loud. I want to be heard, not shot at for disturbing the peace. Gotta remember, in my part of Tennessee, "he needed killin" is still a viable defense in court

I've heard and read many reviews about Cobra pipes blueing pretty quickly. For this reason I was leaning towards V&H or HK's. Has this reputation changed? Or has anyone had other positive experiences with Cobras?

I too have heard that Cobra has issues with quality both on material and chrome. For that reason, I've not been looking at them for my exhaust needs. It would be great if they have addressed these issues, if so, I might take a second look at them. But I think I've decided on HK for my pipe needs.

I'm told the Cobras have been a lot better in quality as of late.
With their crossover chamber, they should not be as loud as if they didn't have one. I was also told that they have a steel type baffle, as opposed to fiberglass packing.
I'm hoping they are not TOO loud, just SOMEWHAT louder. Loud pipes aren't great on long trips........

I went back to cobras web site and they do not list any sounds for the 1600, you can check out some of the pipes on the 1500E and other bikes. as for the pipes changing color these I put on have full length heat shields and are doing great I only have 1500 miles on them so far as for too loud they max about 103 decibles. when going down the road they have a low purr when you open it up they roar.

Thanks, I'll check out the 1500's on the Cobra site. I can't wait for mine to come in. I've checked a couple sites on the net and the Speedester Shorts are listed as "backordered". Hope mine aren't. Glad to hear the heat shields cured the blues.

I forgot to mention something. I have my Timex set to go off when it's time for me to go to work. When I ride, I leave early and take the long way to work :) With my stock pipes, I can hear my timex alarm go off  That's just on right  Here I am, riding one of the larger V-Twins made and I can hear my watch alarm go off :!: Nope, it's time for new pipes :D

Which model of Cobra pipes do you have? Do they have a DEEP sound?
