Just got back from a three hour ride around some West Virginia mountains. Love my 800 but the seat leaves a lot to be desired (my arse aches). I've been looking at Corbin and Mustang as possible replacements. Any opinions would be appreciated as well as any other brands you might suggest. I looked to see if Barcalounger offered a seat but no luck. :D

I just put a Mustang "vintage wide" on my 800A and I love it. I just got back from a 2,000 mile trip to North Carolina and back and I could've easily kept right on rolling if I didn't have to go back to work sooner or later. It was nice to not be the guy that needed to stop for a break all the time.

With the stock seat everything after about 1,000 miles was literally a pain in the butt.

bud8fan................I took a look at your bike's seat and I admit it looks real good but I'm leaning toward the Mustang. I'm conflicted, hence my request for opinions. A nice hunk of change so I want to get it right the first time out.

I can vouch for both seats. I had a Corbin on my last bike, and now have a Mustang on my Vulcan 1500 Classic. I'll take the Mustang any day. It just fits me better, but that's me. My wife would tell you the same thing though. She rode 2-up with me on both bikes, and prefers the Mustang as well.

I had a Corbin on my previous bike ('84 Honda Nighthawk 700SC) and I loved it. But Corbin does not offer a solo seat with backrest for my new '04 Mean Streak so I placed an order for this one from Mustang along with the matching tank and fender bibs. I'll post a review once I get some seat time on it.

I don't know about Corbin, but can say that for me, the Mustang is a very nice seat. Comfortable and very well made. The quality of the seat and the assembly technique is many steps above stock. Your butt will thank you.

I have a Mustang Vintage Wide on my Volusia and I love it. I am 5' 8" and weigh 225 lbs. Over on the Volusia Owners Group board, the Mustang seat seems to be the most popular. Corbin is close behind though.

saki = corbin only makes one seat for the 800 it`s the gun fighter it sits you a little lower , more like a saddle. mustang makes a fastback seat that looks a lot like a gunfighter , but the corbin is a better seat. As far as the other mustang seats I wouldn`t know . The corbin looks better on an 800A , plus you can ad a back rest easy. www.corbin.com

Mustang

Bought a Mustang replacement seat for my Vulan 1500a, and at first I thought this is too hard, my old seat is softer than this. Took it on an 800 mile ride through Mississippi and boy was I surprised. After the seat got broken in, arse pain  was no more. I know one person that got a Corbin seat and he does not like it. Guess there are probably good and bad with both brands. Don't by a cheaper model seat, spend the bucks, it's worth it in the long run.

I had a gunfighter on my 800 a few years ago and then got another corbin for my mean streak and my v2k there great. Never tried a mustang though they may be good too.
