The first thing I would recommend to anyone starting to ride is take a MSF course. I don't care if you've been riding for a year or 2 months. You'll still learn something new and besides, most insurance companies will lower your premiums.

The next step is to do some research and if you're ready down the road take a class at a racing school. Go to http://www.superbikeschool.com/us/index.shtml . Not only are they a great school but they have a ton of great info even if all you do is cruise the streets. And no, I'm not a rep. from the school.

Advanced MSF

Advanced MSF course is definately worth while. It is great to get this course..see if it is available..

Along with racing school track days will help you improve your skills on and off the street. I wish I had a track within 6 hours or so from here, I'm sure I could save up some cash to get there.

My son and I practice low speed cornering (5mph...friction zone...rear brake feathering..SLOW) in a big soccer complex parking lot. It's big enough to transition to higher speeds after the tires are warm. The speed bumps leave a car width on each side because of the parking spaces. We're fortunate to have this, because it's out of town and really off the beaten path, so nobody bothers us except an occasional carload of spectators. They always stay at a distance and just watch. Practice makes perfect!

MSF

See if MSF offers an advanced class in your area. It isn't cheap, but it is worth every penny that you spend as far as I'm concerned...I'm looking forward to getting a Kawasaki so that I can find one a go to the class. It's nothing like Basic MSF.
