You can do the prep work yourself and that will help keep costs down. Definitely go to a local shop and make a friend. That way you'll have somebody who's a pro to ask questions and bounce ideas off of. Next week I can let you know an estimate for costs.

look in the phone book for body shops, and give some a call, ask them if they would paint a bike, prices and any other questions you have.
