I've done a search on this site for this topic but haven't found anything that was of help.

I have a '96 Vulcan 1500 Classic with a cross threaded spark plug hole. I would like to repair it myself with a rethreading tool. However, I'm unsure of the size and pitch that I need to accomplish the job. I can't seem to find any information doing google searches on this.

If anyone could provide that information, I would be happy as a slightly overweight kid in a candy store!

If your sparkplug takes a 13/16" socket, it's probably 14 MM thread size.
This looks like a pricey tool, but what would an engine tear down, machine shop work and re-assembly cost?

I found that tool and one similar to it... just wasn't sure if it was the right one or not. I've found that tool ranging in price $4 to $60. No clue why it is so different. Here is one that I hope would work:

The older Kz 900's,Kz1000's,and a few others take/took NGK B8ES sparkplugs that are 14 mm thread size. I believe the Kz 650's and Kz/GPz 550's took D sized sparkplugs(not sure of the size).

If you use a sparkplug cross index , it should tell you what size thread for your bike.
