I just picked one of these Gear Indicators up for 45 dollars and i was wondering if anyone here has used one before on a 1600? And are they hard to install?

I could not see paying $200 for one but $45 new in the box now were talking...

It appears that this device works off of the system sort of like a tachometer does. It's hooked up to the speed sensor, the negative side ot the coil and, of course, to power. It uses a learning paradigm that is outlined in the instruction manual available on the website.

hmmm....I just look down at the little knob shifty thingy to see what gear I'm in. ;-)
Pretty cool actually and the install looks pretty easy based on the instructions on the website. Driving 30 seconds in 1st gear - man, I don't know if I could do it.
I'd have to find more room on the handle bars for it though.
