Help!!! My boyfriend accidently put diesal fuel in his GX7R. He ran it for 2 miles and then some white smoke came out and then it stopped running. A friend of ours told us to drain the fuel out and put some high octane 93 in and run it for a while. Can anyone offer us some advice or should we take this to a mechanic??? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks

Drain fuel tank, then drain fuel bowl on carbs. then add gas. If you don't drain the fuel bowls you might burn your starter up trying to burn through the diesal in the fuel bowls. might smoke a bit at first but shouldn't hurt anything really.

easy clean up job....

Your friend is right. Don't put a lot of gas (1 gallon is enough). Run bike for 10 sec and throw that gas away. Then fill up with godd gas and don't worry be happy.

DIESEL

On the farm we use diesel fuel for lots of gas related engines...try this...
take a siphon hose and remove the diesel fuel, as much as you can...it's okay to leave some in, then go get a couple gallons of gas 91 octane will work fine. IF you cannot remove the fuel bowl drain plugs then simply remove the spark plugs, turn hte on/off switch, to off, cover the plug holes loosely witha towel to prevent the blowing diesel from spraying all over, turn the choke all the way on. this part is important as you do not want to run the battery down, or over heat the starter. Turn the Choke ALL the way ON, and crank the starter for about 15 seconds...let set for about a minute then crank it for about 15 seconds...let it set for another minute...then crank it for another 15 seconds and turn it off, close the choke, turn the on/off safety switch back to on, and then remove the towel, wiping any diesel off that may be present, reinstall the plugs. Try to start it for 15 seconds with the choke on. IF it doesn't start, then find someone, or a couple of bodies to push you, or find a great big hill and put the ignition to on, put teh bike in second or third gear and coast till you have some speed and let the clutcha out while twisting the throttle...when it does start it will smoke like a dragster doing a burn out, but don't let it die, drive it around till it is not really smoking any more about 5-10 minutes. On the farm we take diesel and clean out the intakes and top ends by holding the throttle open on our farm trucks adn dumping diesel down the carbs at hust the right amount to keep them running...we use about 10 oz. of diesel in the process and the trucks kick out a lot of black gunk and they smoke like you wouldn't believe...but afterwards they run clean without missing...it takes a while to get al the diesel cleaned out but you could put it into the fuel tank, like Marvel Mystery oil to clean the top end as well. To much of it will cause not only smoke but for the engine to run to hot. Anytime you have a carbon build up you can usually kick it loose by doing the process.
