I've been meaning to ask this question for a while, but keep forgetting. The rear brakes on my 900 Custom are kinda squeaky. Not the whole time I'm on them, but between about 5mph and a complete stop they just squeak/squeal. I've cleaned them several times but the noise keeps coming back. Does anyone else's rear brake do this? The front ones are quiet as a mouse.

The only time mine have made a sound is when they have been wet, after an hour of riding in heavy rain. Disk brake squeal is caused by the pads shuddering as you apply pressure and I know at least with cars the my fix has been either to pull them and make sure they were seated right or a small dab of silicon where the pad meets the caliper.

no noise here, but it has only been 1300 miles.

On a side note: my previous Zuki Intruder squealed like a stuck pig. I was told that the common saying was "If it don't squeal, then it ain't an Intruder."
Brake Quiet would work for a short time, but squeal would come back.
The best solution was to change out the front pads with EBC pads.
I would assume EBC makes pads that fit the VN900C.

I had same thing - only happened at low speeds. I removed them and "roughed-up" the surface thinking they were glazed, no difference. At 10K when I replaced them with aftermarket, not a peep since.

Word to the wise, stick woth name-brand stuff. I bought some "hi-quality" pads from a store on Ebay. They looked great, installed them and noted after just a few trips that the bike felt "sticky" like a brake was hanging. IMPOSSIBLE I told myself I just changed them, they're brand new!
After some more riding figuring they needed to "break-in" the rear tire started dragging hard. Put it on the jack and the brake wouldn't release. Took it apart and discovered that the little protrusion at the top of the pad was a few thousandths too big, causing the entire assembly to hang. Had to file it down for the back and the front.
Stick with name-brand.
