Hi all. I am new here and need a little advice. I have a 1981 440LTD that I am going to detail. It has no oil or grease on the engine only scale I guess you would call it from being in storage for 20 plus years. How do you make these engines look new again. What do you do? Use some sort of chemical or just brush it down with a soft wire brush? I am talking about the cast part the jugs and engine case. Thanks :?

I used some stuff called Metal Gloss - Its a metal polish and brings the metal to a mirror shine.

I started with an old pair of handcuffs and brought them back to a mirror shine! I'm gonna do my Ninja 250 rims next. I've tried it on several different metals and in each case its shined up pretty nice.

Ok I will try it but do you think it will work on the cast parts?

JWC9,

This sounds funny, but if you have any surface rust on the bike you can clean it off with a can of COKE and some aluminum foil. Mack cleaned my pipes off using this method and they look great.
