Hello all, first time poster.
I recently picked up (what I was told was) a ZX10 engine for free, and I'm now trying to make sure I know what year it's from to help me when buying parts.
I've got the engine number and according to the haynes manual it could be either an 88 GPZ1000RX or a ZX10 B1, B2 or B3 from either 88, 89, or 90-91.

Is there any way to positively id this engine? Any other codes on it that would tell me what model it's from? Does it make any difference except for valve clearances and such?

CycleChaos.com has the frame & engine numbers for many Kawasakis.
Yeah, I had a look on there and all the engine numbers from the 88 GPZ1000 to the 90 ZX10 all start from the same letter and number sequence, so not much help really.

But I did find that the zx10b has a 17tooth front sprocket and the gpz/zx10a has a 15 tooth one. So ended up counting the teeth on mine, and it's got 17.
