yes, the 500R is a valid bike, as are all. But with all bikes, you have to trade, 1300cc monsters likethe busa don;t handle. 250cc bikes handle, but don't have a high top end. I think the 500R is a well rounded bike. A lil to well rounded for me, which is why I'm going with a ZX-6R
have fun (btw, what are you doing here right now? shouldn't you be riding? lmao J/K)

the hayabusa is actually a great handling bike, its not a track bike, but it is more than fully capable.
makes me glad that that's the bike i chose.
500

The 500 is more than adequate bike..the new 600's are just bit lighter...but insurance parts, economy,,,the 500r has its place...
I have a quick question. I'm looking to get my first bike and am looking at the 500R. My only concern is power. The 500R is fairly well priced, but is it worth the extra money to go up to some 600cc bike? I want something that has a sport look but won't kill me with payments and insurance, but also something that I can haul butt with if I want. Is that article true in saying the 500R can do 12 something in the 1/4 mile? If so then that is plenty fast enough for me. Is that bone stock or what? Does anybody have any other 1/4 mile times they can share. Granted I will rarely if ever take it to the track, but just wondering how much getup it has if I want to get on it.

Once you learn to ride it you will be amazed as to how fast this bike will accelerate.
The 500, IMHO, is the best bike for a beginer. Very managable power in lower RPMs and as your experience grows just start revving it harder and you will see a completly different bike that handles great and has all the speed and acceleration you need. I ride a 750r as often as most drive cars, got on a friends EX500 the other day for a few hours, now looking for one for myself. Just trying to find a way to covince my wife I need 2 bikes now.
