This has been requested, and since the forum has changed the old version is useless.

First Put a Title and a message in the body. Then click on the Manage Attachments button.

Then you will be back at the 'Browse' and 'upload' screen. Click 'upload'. This will upload the file or give you error. If your image is too large, resize it and try again.

Then Click the Close window button. And Submit the new post.

My pictures are too big. I don't know how to make them smaller.

You can use many programs on the internet that will allow you to resize them and change the quality so they'll be small enough to upload. I personally use adobe photoshop, and sometimes paint shop pro.

I know this sounds really stupid, but this is all very new to some of us :?. In fact I bought my first camera EVER just yesterday (after almost 45 yrs.!) After some 3 hours of reading and trying, I've had success taking & transfering & deleting & moving pictures, but my pictures are jpeg so adobe will not open them so I cannot reduce the size  . So, where can I go from here? Also, your instructions will work for attachments, but how do I insert/copy&paste/whatever a picture in the text, rather than as an attachment?

you should be able to use adobe photoshop to adjust the size.

there are also many many other programs out there that will allow you to resize the photos.

Paint shop pro, etc...

rbentnail:
my pictures are jpeg
MS Paint (Start -> Accessories -> Paint) handles the JPEG format very well these days, and you can scale your images (albiet rather primitively) by using the "Image" then "Stretch / Skew" command. Be sure to stretch BOTH the horizontal and vertical by the same percentage else the picture will look a bit crankey :s
To check the size of the image, simply go "image" then "attributes" and under units click the circle next to 'pixels'

how do I insert/copy&paste/whatever a picture in the text, rather than as an attachment?
I guess that embedded images only appear in the text if they are inserted as URL's (clicking the little landscape image in the "Go Advanced" reply box) but that requires linking the images from an outside scource already on the net (or your own webspace). There is a way around this, but I know the Admins will probibly kick my unmetionables out of here if I told ya ;)

Hey cheese! Sorry, didn't mean to seem rude or ungrateful. I've just been homed in on inserting an image rather than an attachment and using a thread in the cruiser section to try to work it out. What "we've" discovered for jpeg is to save it in a web-based site (photobucket is working well for me) and insert it. Simple. I was making it way too hard I think. Thanks for the advice- for those of us who are not too computer savvy, mspaint does the trick!

Here's a question. I can use the advanced editor to put in an image in the post, and it works fine with regular image URLs (like when I use a URL of an image from another site). However, when I upload images as attachments and use the resultant URL for the images in the advanced editor (e.g. http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=72), then they show up as just links. Is there a way around it so the image I attached shows up in the post?

I don't particularly know a way of doing it through the forum's attachment system. Since it doesn't save it as a .jpg or .gif the system doesn't know to show it as an image.

You can also use http://www.imageshack.us to host files for use on the forums.

Once you get to the site, you click "Browse", navigate to the image and click "Open". Then below the "Browse" button, click "Host It". On the next page, you can either copy "Thumbnail for forums (1)" or you can use the
[/b], and it should work!! :D

In photobucket, just use the IMG line under the pic. Highlight the IMG line, Right click, Copy then come to the thread and right click, Paste. the photo shows up in the post.
