hi, im brand new to the board. just kinda desperate for some non bias info (well somewhat) just dont wanna listen to sleezy dealerships and mag info with pro riders to rely on. my situation: bought my 03 mean streak last spring, got my license and swore i wouldnt race it. (i do alot of dragging but with 4 wheels) well, i started to play around with it this year now that i feel comfortable with it at high speeds. and decided its no longer enough for me. just doesnt have the power i need and i even missed out on the 1.6 in the 2004's. so right now, im considering a harley v rod, victory vegas, honda interceptor, or road star warrior.

but i must admit im VERY amatuer with bike performance, im pretty fluent in car tuning. (mostly 4 cylinders) but tryin to adapt to v twin tuning. and im unable to afford any expensive mods for the bike because i own it solely because of the great financing. so anything huge is out of the question. if i had the cash i would pick up the mr turbo turbo kit and be done with it.

so what do you guys reccomend. im planning on removing the inner two baffles on the oem pipes, already did the outter myself. also would like to look into some sort of intake, but really dont want the ram air effect cone filter ive seen around, (heh can you tell im new to bikes?) i want it to remain pretty much stock looking and not things sticking out. has anyone experimented with nitrous on their 1500 on here yet? need power :(

so what do you guys reccomend? need more power!!! should i look into a faster bike? really interested in the v rod now that they lowered the msrp even lower. and like i said, i need cheap modifications. all my physical cash is dumped into my car that im building. thanks a ton for any help you can give.

oops, almost forgot, who makes the best pipes for the 1500 mean streak? i havent seeen too many i like better the the oem style, but if they will give me power maybe its worth it? thanks :)

EDIT>>haha, one more question. ive never asked a dealership to help me with anything (bike dealer) is it a big deal to ask them to modify your exhaust system? i live in nebraska, we really dont even have any emissions laws. cat's arent even required by law, just cant take em off if your a shop. but theyre not required. but wasnt sure if it was a no no to ask the local harley shop to drill out my inner baffles?

yeah i love the ls1's too. have had kind of an obsession with the ws6 since the first day i laid eyes on one in a show room. was never a huge fan of muscle. but the lines and curves of the 98+ TA especially with ws6 package (hood n wheels) i really dig em. have wanted one for a while but still too young to afford insurance on one, im 21 and its just out of reach to pay 4200 a yr to insure under me. so til i hit 25 and it goes down im stuck with a 4 cyl. rollin an 00 celica right now in spectra blue. not bad, but not quick.

and yeah meanie isnt real fast. i dont mind the vmax's performance but i want somthing that has some performance and decent looks. vmax is more of a street fighter kinda look. just bare bones and speed. i dig my mean streak a whole lot in the looks dept, like the warrior as well. vrod definately hits me the right way. but you dont think intake/exhaust would make any difference? i know its not gonna get me far. but would like to have it keep up with the warrior. b/c i think what it boils down to is its just a matter of time before the kawasaki gets traded for a vrod.

well like i said, im new to the bike tuning. but from what i understand the power commanders are basicly like an afc for FI bikes? are they pretty tough to tune on your own, or is dyno time alot smarter to set maps?

and nice choice, yeah i cant wait til i can afford to insure somthing. i think by the time i hit 25 though C5's are going to be right in my price range. mmmm a nice c5 vert, 6 spd, black leather interior. heh, i think at that point i wouldnt even have to race it to enjoy it. i know the convertible isnt the best choice for racing, but somthing about the c5 with the top down rollin in the sun...ugh, i gotta shupup before i start thinking about it too soon. nice setup on your ws6 tho, what kinda times are you getting out of it. im sure once you get a nice built rear in it with some slicks to scream out of the hole things will change too :)

yep, i think you'll like the nitto 555r's i have a set on my last project and they were really nice for running around the streets, but jeez for that kinda power heh, with a big rear end and some et slicks, it would prolly drop you close to a second more :)
