I like the stock location for spirited riding (I'm 6', 34" inseam), but do need somewhere to stretch my legs on longer trips, but I didn't want to put a crash bar on the bike cuz I think it ruins the Meanie's looks. So I made some brackets that bolt behind the controls that I welded some pipe to such that I then used peg risers vertically to mount some highway pegs. Imagine taking your feet off the stock pegs and moving them forward and down about 30*. I find that to be comfortable since when you put your feet down you 'unfold' yourself a little bit. The downside is they touchdown a fraction of an inch before the pegs do, and I did not hinge them. To be completely safe they should be hinged.
Also, the mustang seat puts you back maybe 1/2 to 1" from the stock seat, might be an option if you need just a bit more room.
