Hi, I am new to dirt bike and have a question about front fork. I have a KX 125 1997 and went ridding 2 weeks ago, then left the bike in the garage on it wheel, no stand, just leaning on the wall. Then yesterday went to put it in the trailer and notice after compressing the front fork that there was more oil then I seen before, the was also some on the wheel and tire, then I removed the gard and clean the oil and dust and sand from last ride and compressed a few time the front fork with just a bit of a oily layer on the bottom part of the suspension, so my question is, would sand from last ride could creat a leak and how much oil is normal on the bottom part of the fork?

Thank you

It could be time for a rebuild, yes. Or you could just have a piece of dirt/silt trapped in the seal that the oil is leaking past. You can remove the dust wipers and run a small piece of 35mm film in between the seal and the fork tube. Work it all the way around the seal and pull it out. If the seals are still good but leaking because of trapped dirt, that will usually do the trick.

pffft. I've seen brand new seals leak the day after putting them in. Dirt CAN get trapped in there and it WILL cause a leak if it does. There's no reason not to try cleaning them out before going on and replacing them. If it doesn't work, you'll need to replace the seals, but there's nothing lost by trying the film/tape/sandpaper trick first. Everybody's gotta be a know-it-all, lol.

AsKDX noted, and a couple others.
Likely they need replacing.
You can get wipers to if you consistantly get dirt fouling the seals.

Its a cheap and easy job to replace them yourself.
Be sure to use fresh oil to, fork oil does not last forever as many seem to think it does.
