ok. first off, i havent driven my baby in about a month sadly. usually i never go that long but was kinda mad at it so anyways.

bike: 03 kaw 1500 mean streak

first question. having some noise in the back of my head while riding but when id stop i wouldnt hear it. well its definately the fuel pump. got it stopped earlier tonight and listened. it was a distinct whine and could hear it in the tank. so i know thats what its gotta be. but it sounds like a freakin race pump in there. i dont remember ever hearing that before. any ideas why it started? bike has maybe 2000 miles on it.

2nd question. let me be very clear tho. this is in no way related to the fuel pump. the whine has been active for over a week before hand. so please no dumb remarks saying its connected.

so anyways, my gas station in my neighborhood has at the pump race fuel. as i pumped a galon in tonight being so used to just running it in my car and my quad i realized its FI and thought maybe it would be similar to alot of new FI cars in the fact that it can burn up your O2 sensors. do the mean steaks have O2 sensors??? i mean im a little more new to bike performance, but is it alright to run some leaded fuel through? after i put a gallon in i gave it a second thought and watered it down with some premium but was a little worried about it. but did get rid of some of the ping i notice under acceleration. so that was nice and could tell it was running much smoother and pulling a little harder. and smells like happy :)

but whats the verdict on leaded fuel in modern injected bikes specificly the mean streak? do i need to avoid it in the future or can i enjoy it some more?

I am in no means a fuel or emissions expert but I think the most you will hurt is your catalytic converter. You're bike does not have an O2 sensor either. I don't know the effect of leaded gas on the fuel pump, or injectors. Making a snap assumption I think the only real problem would be the catalytic converter.

Good luck
